The 2019 Kia Sedona is a minivan that takes on the competition with a spacious cabin, high-quality interior and versatile seating alternatives. The Sedona can seat seven or eight passengers, depending on the configuration. When you visit a dealership like the Oceanside Kia dealer, you’ll be happily surprised to discover the Sedona is less expensive than rivals such as the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey.

For 2019, the Kia Sedona gets a refresh that sees it with more style, more tech features, and more comfort and convenience features. On the outside, you’ll notice the redesigned front and rear fascias, with design language that matches stablemates such as the 2019 Sorento. The foglights are now more prominent, and the SX and SXL trims get standard LED headlamps. Buyers can choose 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels, depending on the trim level. According to Oceanside Kia, a new eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the outgoing model’s six-speed gearbox.

Updated technology features include a standard wireless smartphone charger and an electronic parking brake for the SX and SXL trims. An optional rear-seat entertainment system comes with two 10.1-inch touchscreens, replacing last year’s flip-down overhead display. The screens can mirror your smartphone, and they include wireless Bluetooth headphones.

The 2019 Kia Sedona is available in five trim levels, listed as L, LX, EX, EX Premium, SX, and SXL. Front-wheel drive is standard across the lineup. Powering the Sedona is a 3.3-liter V6 engine that makes 276 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new gearbox is engineered to provide a smooth ride and improve fuel efficiency. The 2019 Sedona L, LX, EX and EX Premium get EPA-estimated fuel economy of 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway, while the SX and SXL return 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway.*

The base L trim level comes with seating for seven passengers, while the other trims seat eight passengers with a center bench. A optional slide-N-stow feature for the second-row seats allows easier access to the cargo area. The top-line SXL trim includes upgraded captain’s chairs.

The Sedona has plenty of cargo space to store luggage or to take along just about anything you’ll need. There’s 33.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 78.4 cubic feet behind the second row. With all the seats folded down, there’s a total of 142 cubic feet of space.

Crash test ratings aren’t in as of the date of this writing. Kia expects the 2019 Sedona to get the Top Safety Pick + designation from the IIHS when equipped with optional Forward Collision Warning. Last year, the IIHS gave the Sedona the highest rating of Good in all crash tests and named it a Top Safety Pick model.
